Flow Capacity
The FloPlast Niagara system provides considerably greater drainage capacity than standard half-round guttering.
| Outlet position | Installation | Flow rate | Approximate roof area |
|---|---|---|---|
| End outlet | Gutter fitted level | 2.40 litres/second | 115m² |
| End outlet | Gutter fitted to a 1:350 fall | 2.90 litres/second | 139m² |
| Centre outlet | Gutter fitted level | 4.50 litres/second | 216m² |
| Centre outlet | Gutter fitted to a 1:350 fall | 5.30 litres/second | 254m² |
A centrally positioned outlet can significantly increase drainage capacity compared with an end outlet. Roof size figures are approximate and depend on rainfall intensity and installation conditions.
Installation Guidance
- Plan the gutter route and position the outlet directly above the drain.
- Install the outlet no more than 50mm below the roof-tile level.
- Set a recommended fall of approximately 1:350 towards the outlet.
- Fix fascia brackets at maximum intervals of 800mm.
- Reduce bracket spacing to approximately 400mm in areas exposed to heavy snowfall.
- Position brackets within 150mm of unions, corners, outlets and stopends.
- Secure brackets using suitable 25mm × 5mm round-head corrosion-resistant screws.
- Insert gutter lengths into fittings up to the marked expansion lines.
- Hook the rear edge of the gutter under the back clip, then press the front edge firmly into place.
- Apply a suitable silicone lubricant to seals where required to make assembly easier.
Allow adequate space for thermal expansion and always follow the manufacturer’s fitting instructions.
